Our Story So Far

Howdy!! First and foremost I just want to say that my wife and I are extremely grateful you’ve taken the time to visit our website. Being a family owned and operated business, your time and attention mean everything to us. My name is Cody Davis and I’d like to share our story.

When I started Davis Land & Lawn months before I got married to the love of my life, Anna, I really didn’t have a clue what I was doing. I had a truck, a trailer, a mower, and a vision– or maybe it was delusion? So many people called me crazy. But they couldn’t see what I saw, a tree and land company that serviced the Texas Hill Country with integrity, purpose, and sustainability.

Fast forward seven months, thrown into the depths of providing for myself and my family, my now wife and I were faced with a very real conversation of what needed to be done. We attended Alamo Colleges and then took off about a year and a half from school to serve the Lord in a variety of capacities, work out some details of our lives, and save money. Our plan all along was to finish our degrees at Texas A&M University, and that is what we did. In August 2023, a month after we got married, we moved ourselves and half of our business to College Station and surrounding areas while traveling weekends back to Kerrville for supplemental work. We worked, studied as full time students, and were involved in the community and our church. For the next two years we truly enjoyed our time building up new skills and services in both areas! It went by fast. Things changed in a lot of different ways in the summer of 2025.

On July 4th, 2025, my hometown of Hunt, Texas, was hit by a historic flood. Luckily, we were spending July fourth with my wife’s family in Pipe Creek and I was able to leave to help some family friends that were tragically affected. It’s hard to put into words how it feels to see members in the community lose everything. To lose everything and yet, pick up the pieces and move forward. The response was nothing short of miraculous- thousands of folks traveling in to help Texans, and just a huge reminder that even amongst disaster and distraught and destruction, there is such hope, light, and true peace in community. Our company was able to help out with our chainsaws, equipment, and safe techniques for removing debris. My wife and I were full time students, and I distinctly remember getting home one evening to do 3 hours of chemistry homework and an exam for a different class. Time seemed to move incredibly slow and fast at the same time.

The next month, my wife graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and a minor in Spanish. We continued to work and travel to and from College Station and Kerrville. The last semester was surely the most memorable as I was enrolled in 22 hours while still thinking of our long term vision of high quality and intentional work in the Hill Country. Once I graduated in December of 2025, with a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture and minor in Ecology and Biology Conservation, my wife and I packed up all our things and moved back to the Hill Country. We are extremely blessed with supportive families who have helped us in many ways along our journey.

Becoming an ISA certified Arborist was no easy task, it requires many hours of study and dedication to understanding safe practices and scientific methods. In February of 2026, I took my ISA Certification Test and received the results that I had passed on the first attempt. This has led me to work with Engineering Firms as an Arborist Consultant, as well as being included in conversations that I wouldn’t previously have had the opportunity for. With these credentials in mind, you can be assured that you’re dealing with an up and coming professional. I thank my Heavenly Father who has blessed me with these experiences and life lessons to get me where I am today.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention our wonderful sub-contractors over the years who have shared the vision and manual labor of what it means to be a part of Davis Land and Lawn. Thank you to Caleb, Sam, Dad, Jacob, Daniel, and Jake for being a part of building this movement of conservatism with me. A special thank you to my Dad who has been there for every step of the way in mentorship, working with me even when it was inconvenient, and for being there for us.

In the summer of 2026, Anna and I will welcome our first born son into the world, and we are over the moon to meet him. My vision started with purposeful, high quality work and sustainable conservation efforts in the Hill Country. It has transformed into building up people, communities, and our environment with the small efforts that we at Davis Land and Lawn can make in Texas. This vision is not just for the conservation of the Texas Hill Country, it’s for the whole state of Texas, in whom we cherish its history, values, and natural resources.

If you’ve made it this far, we thank you from the bottom and tops of our hearts. We know how vital it is to truly conserve our natural resources and to advocate for those pieces of life that cannot speak for themselves. As community members who share these principles, we’re looking forward to getting to know and serve you. Give us a call or text at (830) 329-2516 for any Tree or Land Services you’re in need of.

Thanks and Gig ‘Em!
